Thomas Herd's story is one of incredible talent, hard lessons, and relentless determination. A promising hockey career was cut short by concussions, a consequence of not recognizing dangers early enough. This pattern continued in business, where naivete and lack of self-protection led to the downfall of his first business, a failed compensation package in his second, and lapses in leadership decision making and corporate governance in his third that nearly cost him everything he worked over a decade for. These experiences inspired Thomas to create Preemptive Paths, aiming to help others avoid similar pitfalls and protect their futures.
At Preemptive Paths, we understand that everyone deserves a second chance. Our mission is to provide the tools, support, and awareness necessary to help individuals course-correct before it's too late. Whether it's through our sponsorship programs, group circles, or awareness campaigns, we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.

Human nature is to learn from our mistakes only once we’re penalized (often severely) for them. Yet, for many, going down the wrong path or engaging in unscrupulous activities or distractions, one mistake can be fatal to careers, relationships, and even lives. As someone who has experienced mental, physical, and even career implosion as a result of veering down the wrong paths at times in my life and as someone who has worked tirelessly to put myself and my family in a good situation, I wanted to start Preemptive Paths to come to the service of all people who want to catch themselves before it’s too late and self-correct to protect their futures.
